sitting on a couch at the windows of the coffeeshop
waiting for the sun to set
watching the tide come in and go out slowly
masking its strength
people walk the beach disregarding winds and temperatures
large seabirds soar and dive to children's delight
the last rays of sunlight create a shimmering trail which
appears and disappears on the water

inside, people move to the windows aahing at the view and praising it
in Spanish, Hindi and Japanese
little children say "Whoa!' and kneel and stare
and say, "It's sooo pretty."
as the circle turns intensely orange
and sinks from sight

Sis & I went with Mom to her church, Roxborough Presbyterian, for Christmas Eve services. All of the music was performed by tweens and teens who were quite excellent!

Stopped procrastinating and went to garden shop for Christmas things. Smart enough to get ready-to-go things so I didn't have extra work to do.
Stopped procrastinating and wrote, addressed and stamped my Christmas cards.
Now for some eggnog (with plenty of nog) for a reward.

Hired Larry, the handyman, to clean the balcony so I can put up the tree and lights. He bagged up the old dead plants etc. HE HAS HIS OWN LEAFBLOWER!!
He'll wash the windows then string the lights. Less work for mother. (That's the old Horn & Hardart's motto. Remember the automat?)

I stayed in my room sacnning old pictures instead of cleaning up the mess in here.

Met some friends at the mall for lunch.
Luckily we don't give gifts in my family so I didn't have to shop.
We give donations in the name of my departed sister to the charity
of choice and they send cards to family members.
Somene noticed that here was no line and that Santa was bored,
so I went down and had my picture taken.

Still happy about yesterday's win. Winds today gusting over 40 mph.
Walked uphill to dentist's office being pushed from behing by the winds.
He removed the stitches from my gums.
Later at the gym working out with Sue. Everyone *loved* my shirt. I've had
it for 15 years. Only wear it twice a year so it will last forever.

A *wonderful* thank you note from a 7 yo neighbor to whom I'd given stickers with her name on them. It pleases me that her parents have taught her such manners. She could have sent me an email because she is computer literate, but a handwritten note is a treasure!
