On February 28:
1708: Slave revolt in Long Island New York.
Yesterday it was announced that a designer had been chosen
and we were shown a rendering of the President's House Memorial
which will also honor the slaves of George Washington. This will
be the first national commeration of enslaved people.
I've been marching with the Avenging the Ancestors Coalition
for the last five years. We are all so pleased that when people
come to visit the Liberty Bell, they will be able to visit this adjacent
memorial and hear the stories and see the environment of
those who lived there including the president and his servants
and slaves.
African American History *is* American History.
